Getting Assessed, Are you ready?

Let's be the best Referees in Cal SouthLet's be the best Referees in Cal SouthCalm down, relax, take a breath of air... good. Now let's talk.
1.Games can start with 7 or more players, all games must go two halves of 45 + any extra time... no less than 45 or you'll fail the assessment. If you're running late do not cut time !!!
2. On Kick offs: once ready, hand the ball to the person kicking off after you've counted there are at least the required amount of players on each half.
3. AR's run and check goal nets, right to left and around back to right post, wait and run at same time to touchlines.
4. Referee be sure to be on left side of kicker and back 5+ yards from halfway line., Strong whistle to signal Kick off.
**5. Presence sells conviction... be close to play.
**6. Anticipate, read the game.
**7. Get into referee corner of field and near bench areas (stay out of middle of the field and arc on top of penalty area).
**8. Positioning on corner kicks and set plays... where do need to stand... then move as the ball is put into play.
9. Let the whistle talk for you, different tones and lengths for different issues.
10. Sub doesn't enter till player exits the field, no exceptions !!!. Sub enters at halfway line, players can exit along any boundary line.
***11. Command Presence. be there, be near play, manage with voice (loud and clear), quiet word, public word.... which is necessary ?.
***12. Options, does the player need the card, does the game need the card? How else can you manage without issuing a caution, If the assessor feels one should have been given have a answer ready to justify why you chose a different approach.
13. Advantages, loud for near players, hand and arms up and out for others around("Play On")("Advantage") ie.. spectators, benches etc.. Be sure to deal with the culprit who committed the foul at the first stoppage of play.. Butt chewing, stern, or caution... your Option.
*****14. If it's a red card offense, then your hands are tied, Show the Red, no exceptions... don't be the nice guy... 100% DOGSO or VC, SFP, Spiting, etc... show it or I guarantee the assessor will fail you.
15. Clear signals, AR's mirror referee on all signals near or along his touchline.
16. Who does what on game disrepute and mass confrontation, cover it in your pre-game.
17. On and off the field as a team !!!
18. Be sure to talk at half time to help each other out. Be ready for what the teams are planning to do in the second half.
19. AR's apply the wait and see approach, if not sure then no flag.
20. Indecision is the kiss of death.

Be sure to put the Assessor money in an envelope with a sheet of paper with the entire teams name, home and email address, phone number, and most important your ussf #ID number. Call your AR's to prepare them of what's needed.

Good luck
